1. How do I register?
You can register online or print out the registration form and mail/fax it in.
2. What forms of payment do you accept?
You can pay your registration fees with a check, money order, Visa, or MasterCard.
3. How and when do I get my study guide?
You will receive your study guide the first day of class. It can be mailed to you in advance at an additional cost of $18.95.
4. Where do the testing and review sessions take place?
The testing and review sessions are currently held in the Palatine/Wheeling, IL area. The classroom sessions are held at the Holiday Inn Express located near the intersection of Rt. 53 and Dundee (Rt 68). Map The practice sessions and practical part of the certification programs will be held at Universal Construction Testing (UCT) in Wheeling, IL. located near the intersection of Northgate Parkway and Dundee Rd (Rt 68). This is just 4 miles east of the hotel.
5. What is your cancellation policy?
The latest you can cancel your registration for a full refund is 72 hours (or three business days) prior to the start of class. Cancellations less than 72 hours forfeits your registration fee.
6. Do I have to attend the procedure review session?
No, the review session is optional, however we strongly recommend it for all first-time certification attendees. It could be optional for those renewing their certification. If you need additional clarification, please contact us at 855-560-2378 or ACI-IL.certification@hotmail.com and someone will assist you.
7. What time do classes start?
All sessions will start at 8:00 am unless otherwise noted. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow for check-in.
8. What do I need to bring with me to class?
Calculator, pencil, highlighter, safety shoes, safety glasses, and ACI study guide if you received it in advance.
9. When will I receive test results?
Results will be sent to you by ACI national via U.S. mail within 2 to 4 weeks from test date. Do not contact us about availability of your test results. The Illinois Chapter does not grade the exams.

A Concrete Flatwork Finisher/Technician is a craftsman who has demonstrated the ability to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect concrete flatwork. A Concrete Flatwork Technician is a person who is knowledgeable about proper procedures to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect concrete flatwork, but who lacks sufficient work experience to qualify as a concrete flatwork finisher. The primary technical resource for this program is ACI's Concrete Craftsman Series, Slabs on Grade, CCS-1. Other supplemental technical resource materials used in these programs include the following: Concrete Primer, SP-1, American Concrete Institute Guide to Finishing and Related Problems, Concrete Construction Publications The programs require knowledge in the following areas of concrete construction:

ACI will grant certification only to those applicants who obtain a passing grade on the written examination, and either a) possess one year (1500 hours) of approved work experience and successfully complete the ACI performance examination or b) possess 3 years (4500 hours) of approved work experience and successfully complete the Alternative Performance Affidavit (Form D16). The work experience must include placing, consolidation, finishing, edging, jointing, curing, and protection of concrete flatwork. Verification of the amount and range of work experience by the applicant's employer(s) is required. The two-hour written examination is "closed book" and consists of approximately 50 multiple choice questions. The passing grade for the written examination is 70%. During the performance examination each examinee must place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, begin curing and provide initial protection for a concrete slab.
